Phrases from my Journey

If you're reading this, I've spoken at #pechakuchanw Vol. 8 and have hopefully enjoyed a glass of wine to sooth my nerves. I'll post the recording of my presentation when I get my hands on it, but until then I've turned my key phrases into desktop wallpapers as free downloaded below. Go to town downloading them and sharing them around. Cheers. Pecha Kutcha New West

eek! I'm so nervous and excited to be a presenter at Pecha Kucha Vol. 8 at the River Market, New Westminster this Friday, Feb 20, 2015. Started in Tokyo in 2003 by Klein Dytham Architecture firm, a PechaKucha Night is a fun and unique night of local culture and entertainment. 10 presenters from a range of fields share their interesting projects, inspirations and passions. Presenters get just 20 images, which automatically advanced after 20 seconds each, making for a 6 minute and 40 second presentation of ideas and inspiration. I'll be sharing how I got to where I am today with some photos of the past, and some brand new illustrations.   DETAILS River Market, 810 Quayside Dr., New Westminster BC February 20, 2015, 8:00pm...

Our Interrupted Fairy Tale

I recently had the extreme pleasure of working new author, Megan Williams, on her long awaited book and accompanying website. You might know Megan as the tear-jerking story teller behind megansfairytale.com, or as the amazing and inspiring force behind Chad's 1 Million. However you get to know Megan, two things are for sure, she WILL touch your life and you will never forget her story. Her book (cover by moi) is available on Amazon and the many stores lists here: http://ourinterruptedfairytale.com/book/ It was a very special experience to use the actual love letters featured in Our Interrupted Fairy Tale in the making of the cover and website. I loved every second of working with Megan, and I'm so glad we've reconnected all these...

Show Your Heart - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Many of us have been affected by Breast Cancer, whether it has been first hand or helping a loved one through the fight. This year Jennifer, of Prairie Girl in the City, has a second loved one battling for her life. When Jennifer told me how she was feeling, only a few minutes passed before it was clear both of us felt a call to get involved. Our goal was to find a simple and lovely way for you to donate to this important cause. We weren't going to run a marathon, or just ask you for a donation. We wanted to create something beautiful, a symbol of our hope to make a difference, and something you can share as well.   We designed a watercolour print...

Learning New Skills and Teaching Myself

I love learning! It’s something that started young and never went away. I loved going to school too, but as an adult with bills to pay, going back to school isn’t always a realistic option, or a necessary one. Through the years I’ve studied English Literature and Multimedia at UBC (while on the Varsity Ski Team), started the Salmonbellies Women’s Lacrosse team, completely renovated our home, started a business, learned to paint in watercolor, opened my Etsy Shop, and now I’m starting to learn photography. I only had teachers in my university days, and since then I’ve applied a few key points to my process of learning new skills and teaching myself. 1. You don’t have to like it, but...
